Thank you, Congressman Pittenger!
Dear Congressman Pittenger,
As your constituent, I want to thank you for cosponsoring H.R. 3398, the Girls Count Act of 2013. I'm dedicated to ensuring that girls everywhere are counted. When girls are not counted, it becomes difficult, if not impossible, for them to attend school, get a job, own land, start a business, or vote. They will likely be confined to the home and left unpaid invisible members of society. I am grateful for your leadership and support on addressing this issue. As you know, every year 51,000,000 children under five are not registered at birth. Without documentation girls and women can't officially participate in and benefit from the economic, legal and political sectors in their countries. According to a recent report by UNICEF on birth registration, 6,000,000 children in Middle Eastern and North African countries and 32,000,000 children in Eastern Asia countries including China are unregistered, putting them at increased risk for human trafficking. As a member of the House Subcommittee on Middle East and North Africa, the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, and as someone who is a vocal supporter of protecting fundamental human rights in every corner of the globe, we know you care deeply about these issues.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
